about

Recorded 1977
Re-release 2001 (BONUS: two instrumental bonus tracks: a 1980 tune called "kopfkino" (translated in english you could say "mind movie"...in fact it's the first idea of the later tab two classic). And "paranorm" (with Peter and Ingo) from '82.
Remastered 2011

Original Info-Text from Axel H. Lockau (1977):
His name still isn't in „Who's Who“ - whenever he's had enough money to afford to be mentioned he's preferred to buy another bass instead – but in the yet-to-be-written „Who's Who“ of rock something along the lines of what follows might one day appear:

Hellmut Hattler, born 12th April 1952 in Ulm, bass guitarist, vocalist and best known instrumentalist with Germany's most popular live act. After training unsuccessfully to play the violin switched to the contrabass, played with various jazz and rock groups and in 1971 formed the group KRAAN. Released five LPs and a live double album by spring 1977. As a composer, as an arranger and as a performer in over 600 concerts he has been afforded overwhelming acclaim from critics and public alike (…) Spring 1977 saw the first recording sessions for the long-planned solo album. Work went on intensively for a quarter of a year in Conny Plank's studio oasis. Signifying the respect that he commands from his fellow musicians, Helllmut Hattler's debut album is the first German rock LP to feature an „all star“ line-up. Musicians from Germany's top rock and jazz groups lent a hand in the studio and the resultant „Bass-Ball“ maintains the promise of everything that H.H.'s career has so far produced.
